Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit and S.W.A.T. Respond to Domestic Dispute

Featured Stories
In the early part of the afternoon on July 30, 2023, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit and S.W.A.T. team served an arrest and search warrant at a residence on Kelly Drive in North Forsyth County. The warrants stemmed from a domestic dispute which occurred in the early hours of July 30, 2023, where the male suspect is accused of trying to strangle a female victim. Warrants were issued by a Forsyth County Magistrate Judge for Aggravated Assault, a felony charge.
Based on information gathered, the suspect was confirmed to be a previously convicted felon and was believed to also illegally be in possession of one or more firearms. The FCSO S.W.A.T. and Negotiations team arrived at the residence and attempted to negotiate the suspects surrender but he refused to cooperate.
As negotiation attempts were unsuccessful, Deputies heard what they believed could have been one of more muffled gunshots within the residence. Deputies deployed a robot into the home and eventually a K-9 Deputy and his partner entered the home with the S.W.A.T. team where they found the suspect alive with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Deputies and Forsyth Fire and EMS rendered aid to the suspect, and he has been transported to an area hospital in critical condition. No Forsyth County Sheriff’s Deputies discharged their weapons.
The initial criminal acts, as well as additional criminal acts discovered during the warrant service, are under investigation by the FCSO Major Crimes Unit and the FCSO Office of Professional Standards is conducting an internal investigation due to the suspects self-inflicted injury.

Murder-suicide investigation involving a father and daughter

Featured Stories

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. – The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a murder-suicide case that involves a father and his disabled daughter.

On Sunday, Jan. 8, a visiting home health aid discovered 58-year-old Jerry Frix and his 26-year-old daughter Megan Frix were found dead in their home.

Although authorities have not officially ruled the cause of death and reasons behind the incident, Sheriff Ron Freeman said the Major Crimes Unit Detectives have determined that the father was the likely actor in the deaths.

The loss of life is especially tragic as the adult daughter had special needs and had lost her mother just a few years before,” Freeman said. “There can be no justification for the loss of life, and we need to ensure that people know that they can reach out for help by calling 988 and be instantly connected to a crisis counselor.”

String of burglaries in Forsyth

Press Release

PRESS RELEASE – The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office released the following statement regarding a string a burglaries that have been taking place in Forsyth County:

There have been a few burglaries on the South end of the county and we are asking for the community’s assistance.

If you see anyone suspicious in your neighborhood or a car you do not recognize “slow rolling” through your neighborhood, please call 9-1-1 immediately.

These burglars are following a somewhat unusual trend. Many of the burglaries we have seen have been committed at unoccupied homes from 5-10pm, when we typically do not see residential burglaries. The suspects are parking in adjacent areas, sometimes adjoining subdivisions, and traveling through back yards and wooded areas to arrive at the houses they have burglarized.

If you see any suspicious persons in the neighborhood, walking near or in wooded areas near homes or you happen to see this on your home security cameras, please call 9-1-1 immediately to report. There is nothing we want more for Christmas then to see these……&*%@!#^, well let’s just call them Grinches, get to spend their Christmas at the Forsyth County Jail where we will give them a lump of coal at no cost to the taxpayers.

Remember…….Lock your vehicle doors, even when parked in your driveway, and remove items from plain view. Ensure you home is locked and valuables are secured.
