Forsyth County deputies arrest murder suspect

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. – Forsyth County detectives and SWAT took an armed and dangerous fugitive off the street Friday, one day after he is believed to have committed a  double homicide.

Forsyth County SWAT and detectives, with the assistance of Roswell Police Department, U.S. Marshals and North Fulton SWAT, took Escalante-Alacron into custody.

Escalante-Alarcon, 34, of Norcross, is accused in the shooting death of 21-year-old Giovanni Cruz and 35-year-old Ivan Cordero in a home invasion shooting at 300 Tidwell Circle. An unidentified 17-year-old male was also shot but is expected to recover.

Escalante-Alarcon had multiple warrants at the time of his arrest and was being sought by U.S. Marshals in connection with a home invasion robbery at the same residence on February 11

Forsyth County, Ga.– On April 7, 2021 at approximately 4:30 p.m., deputies were dispatched to 8005 Pierpoint Lane for unknown trouble.  Upon arrival, deputies learned that the subject, 36-year-old Jason Campbell, was mentally distressed, intoxicated, threatening suicide, and was armed with a gun.   During the incident, Mr. Campbell exited the home several times with the gun aimed at his head and he fired multiple shots inside the home and outside, striking adjacent townhomes.

Crisis Negotiators were able to build a rapport with Mr. Campbell and eventually he was taken into custody by the FCSO SWAT team who used a kinetic impact round to apprehend him when he exited the residence holding a handgun.  Mr. Campbell suffered minor injuries and was taken to Northside Hospital for evaluation.  No deputies were injured during the incident.  He is charged with Aggravated Assault with a Firearm.

“Yesterday was a testament of the skill and dedication of our Crisis Negotiation and SWAT Teams.  Their exceptional de-escalation tactics, without a doubt, saved a life.  The apprehension of Mr. Campbell was both dangerous and difficult.  To accomplish this with only a minor injury proves their professionalism and dedication,” said Sheriff Ron Freeman.

 

SWAT Team arrests suspect who barricaded himself inside a home in Hamptons subdivision

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. – A man who had barricaded himself inside a home in the 6000 block of Mountain Vista Court in the Hamptons subdivision at 3:30 a.m. today (July 10) was taken into custody by the Forsyth County SWAT Team.

A man and woman were involved in an argument at the home. The woman left and called police. The man barricaded himself inside.

According to a post on the Sheriff’s website, the man was located inside the residence in close proximity to an AR-15 Rifle. Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians processed the scene.

Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Stacie Miller said the incident ended peacefully with no one being injured.
