Public will hear county’s plan to reserve sewer lines for commercial projects during today’s public hearings

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. – The public will have an opportunity to weigh in on the county’s plan to invest up to $19 million to build a sewer infrastructure reserved exclusively for commercial and industrial projects when the Board of Commissioners holds a regular meeting with public hearings today at 5pm in the County Administration Building, 110 East Main Street in Cumming.

Funding would come from the $47.37 million the county received from the American Recovery Plan. County officials say the plan would generate many times the investment in new tax revenue.

In other public hearings, the Board will consider:

  • An Alternate Design for Rene Melendez – Parcel C20-030 – AD210008;
  • The request for variances to the UDC Section 11-9.6(J)(1) by Toll Brothers, Inc. – Parcels 156-001 and 156-002 – VA210103;
  • The request for an Amendment of Zoning Conditions on ZA2699 (Aaron J. Land) by Chris Cowart Properties, LLC and variances to UDC Table 14.2, UDC 14-4.13 and UDC 10-1.10(A)(1) – Parcel 063-057 – AZ210045;
  • (4) Public Hearing and possible vote regarding the request for Amendment of Zoning Conditions on ZA3675 (United Family Homes, LLC) by United Family Homes, LLC – Parcels 079-010 and 079-003 – AZ210046;
  • Approval of a Sketch Plat for Century Communities of Georgia, LLC – Parcels 058-023 and 059-010 – SP210006;
  • A County-Initiated Conditional Use Permit to operate a personal care home serving ten persons or less on 5.286 acres currently zoned Lake Residential District (LR) – Parcel 269-041 – CP210044
  • A County-Initiated variance to: 1.) Reduce the landscape strip along Browns Bridge Road from 20 ft. to as low as 0 ft. to allow the installation of Georgia Transmission Corporation utility infrastructure within the required landscape strip (UDC 21-12.5(B)(2)) – Parcel 217-004 – VA210102;
  • A request for an Amendment of Zoning Conditions on ZA2679 (Donald H. Burruss) by Reshmi De – Parcel 176-550 – AZ210044;
  • Amendments to Chapters 3 and 12 related to Specialty Pharmacy within the Unified Development Code of Forsyth County;

Under Old Business the Board will consider revocation of existing CUP, CP190030, in accordance with UDC Section 8-5.5(I) – Parcel 106-094;.

Under New Business the Board will consider a County-Initiated lot width variances related to the Res2 portion of ZA3997, such that the existing Res2 lot yield may be maintained, but that none of the development or access to the development will occur from Olde Field Chase Subdivision; the number of lot width variances to be determined.

The Board will also elect officers and set rules for 2022.
