FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — During their Oct. 21 meeting, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners recognized Vinayak Menon, a student at Lambert High School, for being named one of the Tobacco Free Kids National Youth Advocates of the Year for his work in anti-tobacco advocacy.

Menon’s advocacy began when he noticed too many peers falling victim to Big Tobacco’s targeted advertising. He recently hosted a community town hall discussing increased substance abuse among students and the best ways to protect kids from a lifetime of addiction. He has also advocated at the national level, speaking with policymakers in Washington, D.C. to build support for a federal ban on flavored tobacco products.
