PRESS RELEASE

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. – Forsyth County Manager Kevin Tanner has been named to the State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA) Board of Directors. Tanner’s appointment was made by the Speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives.

“We are excited to have Mr. Tanner join the SRTA Board of Directors,” said SRTA Executive Director Chris Tomlinson. “His more than 30 years of experience in government, which includes his leadership in transportation for the Georgia House, will be invaluable to SRTA as we work to continue to keep Georgia moving.”

During his time in the Georgia legislature, Tanner served as the Chair of the House Transportation committee, where he sponsored several bills that helped advance transit and transportation programs, as well as projects, throughout the state.

“I am honored to have been asked to serve on the SRTA Board of Directors,” said Tanner. “Transportation is important to not only the metro Atlanta area, but the entire state. I look forward to working with Mr. Tomlinson and the SRTA Board to meet the needs of our residents.”

About the State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA)

SRTA is a state-level, independent authority created to operate tolled transportation facilities within Georgia and act as the transportation financing arm for the state. SRTA manages the collection of tolls on Georgia’s Express Lanes System through the use of Peach Pass. In 2017, SRTA combined with the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA) to jointly provide the services of both state authorities. The GRTA board continues to oversee developments of regional impact, air quality reporting and regional transportation plan approval.

PRESS RELEASE

Forsyth County, Ga. – Forsyth County Department of Public Transportation will host two virtual public information open house meetings for residents to provide feedback on Link Forsyth, the County’s first public transportation master plan.

Link Forsyth public information open house meetings will be held via Zoom teleconferencing at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12. Each meeting will last approximately one hour, and County staff will provide the same information during each meeting.

Information on how to participate in the open house meetings, links to the Zoom meetings and additional background information on the County’s Public Transportation Plan are available on the County’s website: www.forsythco.com/linkforsyth

The Link Forsyth Public Transportation Master Plan is designed to evaluate and enhance two current County transportation offerings:

Senior Services: Provides transportation services to County seniors and active adults

Dial-a-Ride: Provides ride-share services by appointment to Forsyth County residents

Link Forsyth will leverage public input and technical data to formalize recommendations for both long and short-term public transportation services within the County as it relates to these services. Regional connections, such as those provided by the State Road and Tollway Authority’s (SRTA) Xpress Service, will also be considered for inclusion in the master plan.

“These open house meetings will provide a great opportunity for residents to help shape the future of public transportation in the County,” said Forsyth County Director of Public Transportation Roy Rickert.

Link Forsyth is funded in partnership with the Atlanta-Region Transit Link Authority (ATL), the transit planning authority for the 13 counties in the Atlanta metro region.

Recommendations from Link Forsyth are anticipated to be incorporated into the Atlanta Regional Transit Plan that is managed by ATL under the State of Georgia’s regulations.
