Forsyth County deputies investigate fatality involving car and lawn mower
News June 9, 2022FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Forsyth County deputies are investigating a fatal accident involving a car and riding lawn mower that occurred at4 p.m. Wednesday on Hopewell Road near Church Road.
The accident claimed the life of 68-year-old Paul Nix of Cumming who was operating the mower in his front yard near the roadway when a white Ford Fusion operated by 22-year-old Kenneth Johnson failed to negotiate the curve and struck the mower. Mr. Nix was pronounced deceased at the scene. Johnson sustained minor injuries.
During the on-scene investigation, a cell phone was in the debris on the ground outside of the Fusion and was confirmed to belong to Johnson. The text screen was active, and it appeared that Johnson was replying to a text at the time of the crash.
Field sobriety evaluations were also conducted on Johnson. At the conclusion of the evaluation, it was determined that Johnson was driving under the influence. He was placed under arrest and charged with Homicide by Vehicle 1st Degree, Driving Under the Influence, Reckless Driving, Too Fast For Conditions, Failure to Maintain Lane and Writing Sending Reading Texts While Driving. He was transported to the Forsyth County Jail and is being held on no bond.
Johns Creek, Forsyth County score key drug bust
News February 24, 2021FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Surveillance of a suspected drug dealer’s home paid off big time last week when Johns Creek and Forsyth County detectives arrested five people on various drug and weapon charges and took a sizeable amount of drugs off the street.
Detectives spotted the suspect, Levi Brown, 27, of Dawsonville leaving the home, carrying a large backpack. When they tried to approach him, he dropped the backpack and ran but was quickly apprehended.
The backpack contained approximately 40 grams of methamphetamine, 92 LSD tabs, 15 ounces of GHB, 20 grams of marijuana, 3 amphetamine pills, as well as a sawed-off shotgun.
After Brown was taken into custody, detectives obtained a search warrant for the home where an additional large quantity of methamphetamine was found along with various drug paraphernalia and counterfeit US currency.
Arrested along with Brown are William Johnson, 61, of Cumming, Marsha Baker, 61, of Cartersville, Shanna Anderson, 29, of Cumming and Ivory Stone Guy, 25, of Cumming.

- Possession, Purchase, Manufacture, Distribution of Sale of Marijuana
- Possession of a Sawed-Off Shot Gun
- Possession of a Fire Arm by a Convicted Felon
- Obstruction of Law Enforcement
- Probation Violation
