Public hearings on county’s comp plan set for late June and early July

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Forsyth County will hold two public hearings in late June and early July as part of Foster Forsyth 2022, a 12-month planning effort that will culminate in a partial update to the County’s Comprehensive Plan. The hearings will be an opportunity to provide direct feedback on the draft Comprehensive Plan Update.

The initial Public Hearing with the Planning Commission and the following Public Hearing with the Board of Commissioners will provide an overview presentation of the draft plan elements, followed by an opportunity for public comment on the draft plan. The Board of Commissioners will consider transmitting the draft plan for regional and state review in July.

Meeting details are as follows:
– Tuesday, June 28 (6:30 p.m.) – Planning Commission Meeting, Forsyth County Administration Building, 110 E. Main St.)  Commissioners Meeting Room, Suite 220, Second Floor, Cumming.

– Thursday, July 7 (5 p.m.) – Board of Commissioners Meeting Room Forsyth County Administration Building,110 E. Main St., Suite 220.

“The public hearings this summer will be the community’s final opportunity to comment on the draft plan prior to fall adoption as required by state planning regulations,” said Planning & CommunitybDevelopment Deputy Director Vanessa Bernstein-Goldman. “We strongly encourage feedback since the Comprehensive Plan helps guide future growth and land use policy in Forsyth County.”

The draft Comprehensive Plan update may be found by visiting the project updatewebsite where summaries of community input collected throughout the planning process are also available.
It is anticipated that the updated Comprehensive Plan document will be adopted in early fall after state and regional review.

The current Forsyth County Comprehensive Plan, which was adopted in July 2017 may be found by visiting forsythco.com. Georgia requires communities to update their comprehensive
plans every five years, including a reevaluation of needs and opportunities, preferred options for future land use as well as action steps to achieve community goals

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Forsyth County will hold the next Comprehensive Plan meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. in the Fowler Park Community Room (Fowler Park Recreation Center), 4110 Carolene Way in Cumming.

State law requires a county’s comprehensive plan be updated every 5 to 10 years. The plan identifies the type growth, density and commercial development citizens would like to see.

This is your opportunity to give input into the future of Forsyth County.

Several new documents are now available on the project website, including the following draft plan materials and summaries of community input:

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Every 5 to 10 years Forsyth County updates it’s comprehensive plan. This plan is what lays out and identifies the type growth, density, commercial and what should be allowed in specific areas of the county.

Forsyth does this pursuant to GA State land use laws. Applications for zonings and Commissioners decisions rely heavily on the comprehensive plan and land use maps.
