UPDATE: Missing woman, daughter found safe in Mexico

CUMMING, Ga. — The Cumming Police Department announced today via a Facebook post that a Cumming woman and her daughter who were allegedly kidnapped by the woman’s ex-husband have been found safe in Mexico.

“I am very happy to announce that Esperanza Parada-Olivas and Rachel Zecena have been safely located in Mexico and are now back in the US with law enforcement officials,” the Facebook post stated.

The woman’s ex-husband Alexis R. Zecena-Lopez, 55, has been arrested in connection with their kidnapping and is currently awaiting extradition. This is still an ongoing investigation and we will only release limited details but I am very thankful to the US Marshals and FBI for all the hard work they put into helping track down Esperanza and Rachel and bringing them home safely.”

The woman and her daughter had been missing sonce Monday.

Levi’s Call issued for mother and 6-year-old daughter

CUMMING, Ga. – A Levi’s Call, Georgia’s Amber Alert System, was issued at approximately 3 a.m. today for a mother and her 6-year-old daughter who were believed to be taken against their will by the child’s father on Dec. 26

Investigators said Balvanera Esperanz Parada-Olivas and her daughter, Rachel Zecena, age 6, are believed to have been taken against their wills by the child’s father, 55-year-old Alexis R. Zecena-Lopez, could be traveling in a 2016 black Ford Focus with Georgia tag RVX9470.

Rachel Zecena is described by investigators as having black hair and brown eyes.

Balvanera Esperanz Parada-Olivas is described by investigators as being about 5-feet-2-inches tall, about 150 pounds, with black hair, and brown eyes.

Alexis R. Zecena-Lopez is described by investigators as being 5-feet-8-inches tall, weighing 175 pounds, with black hair, and brown eyes.
