FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — James Andrew “Drew” Cecil was arrested on Friday, April 21, on charges related to child porn possession and sexual exploitation of children.

Cecil was a Forsyth County elementary school teacher, teaching fourth grade at Poole’s Mill Elementary School since 2021.

Cecil also had taught and coached volleyball at North Forsyth High School from 2016-2021.

Forsyth County Deputies began to investigate Cecil after they received a tip on April 14 from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children.

NCMEC was able to connect Cecil to several charges and then detectives obtained nine warrants for possession of child pornography and one warrant for sexual exploitation of children.

Deputies stated that the charges did not relate to any students at Forsyth County schools, but they did learn that Cecil and his wife  moved to Georgia from Kentucky after Cecil resigned from his teaching job for “having inappropriate text conversations” with a 14-year-old girl.

This was discovered in court documents involving an ongoing legal battle for child custody with Cecil and his ex-wife, a 20-year-old woman, who also stated that she had a sexual relationship with Cecil when she was a minor.

Cecil is currently being held on a $55,200 bond.
