On deck: Another major industrial development in north Forsyth

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — For the second time in two weeks, the Board of Commissioners is expected to approve a county-initiated rezoning application for a major industrial development when it meets Thursday at 5 p.m.

The application requests rezoning from agricultural (A1), highway business (HB) and commercial business district CBD to restricted industrial district (M1) for more than 800,000 square feet of building space on 74.328 acres at GA. Hwy. 400 and Bottoms Road.

The application also requests a conditional use permit (CUP) for the following uses:

• Breweries and distilleries
• Cold storage plants
• Food processing plants
• Kennels, animal hospitals and veterinary clinics
• Micro breweries
• Micro distilleries
• Open storage yard not to exceed 20% of the total lot
• Research laboratories and ancillary manufacturing
• Self-service storage facility
• Transportation, communications and utility facilities
• Truck terminals
• And conducting around the clock business

On Aug. 4, the Board approved the application for construction of an industrial park of more than 600,000 square feet off Settingdown, Martin and Church roads.

Both facilities are being built in the north end of the county where sewer infrastructure is reserved for non-residential development in the north end of the county. That investment is expected to pay dividends for many years.
