PRESS RELEASE
FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — During the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners work session held April 26, the Board proclaimed the month of April as Sarcoidosis Awareness Month in Forsyth County.
Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disease that can affect almost any organ of the body, and causes the immune system, which normally protects the body from infection and disease, to overreact resulting in damage to the body’s own tissue.
The month of April marks National Sarcoidosis Month to generate understanding and compassion for those suffering from this disease and support for medical research. The Board encourages residents to increase their understanding and awareness of this disease.
