April 1 is deadline to file for Homestead and School Tax Exemptions

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. – Anyone planning to file for the age 65 school tax exemption as well as a homestead exemption should keep the Date April 1, 2022 in mind. It is the final day residents can file for either exemption.

Residential property owners in Forsyth County that reside on that property and are a legal resident of the County, all as of Jan. 1 of the tax year, qualify for homestead exemption. Applications for exemptions can be filed year-round but must be sent in by Friday, April 1, to receive the benefits for 2022.

Regular and floating homestead exemption applications as well as applications for the age 65 school tax exemption are now available for online submission through the online Smartfile Tax Exemption Application tool located on the County’s website, forsythco.com.
