Sugar Hill man died in a single-vehicle accident while fleeing from deputy

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. – A suspected drunk driver was killed in a single-vehicle accident today (Jan. 14) while attempting to flee from a Forsyth County deputy.

At approximately 2:12 a.m., Forsyth County deputy observed a vehicle failing to maintain its lane several times on Buford Dam Road. The deputy attempted a stop the driver, 49-year-old Randall Mize of Sugar Hill but Mize refused to stop and fled at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle crashed near Rockport Drive and Mize was transported to North Fulton Hospital where he died of his injuries

The crash is under investigation by both the Georgia State Patrol and the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office collectively.  Driver intoxication is suspected to be a contributing factor.
