Forsyth County deputies investigate fatal crash

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — On September 8 at approximately 8:38 a.m., Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Department were dispatched to the area of Matt Highway and Old Federal Road in reference to a collision between a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle.

Based on the preliminary investigation, it was determined a 2012 Kia Soul was traveling south on Old Federal Road approaching Matt Highway.  A 2018 Kenworth semi-truck was traveling westbound on Matt Highway approaching the intersection of Old Federal Road.  According to witnesses, the Kia failed to stop for a stop sign and pulled out in the path of the semi-truck.  The Kia was struck on the front driver’s door.

The driver, 85-year-old Bobby Fetner of Ball Ground, was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.  The crash remains under investigation.
