FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. – In its final meeting before the New Year, the Board of Commissioners finalized a three-year contract with Kevin Tanner Tuesday (Dec.22) to serve as county manager with an annual salary of $207,480.
The Board also approved a 30-day extension to Interim County Manager Doug Derrer’s contract to assist in the transition to the new county manager.
Tanner has a 27-year record of public service He served four terms as District 9 State Representative. He also served as Dawson County Manager and was recognized in 2011 as Appointed Official of the Year by Georgia Association of County Commissioners. He was also a volunteer fireman and served for 11 years as chief deputy/undersheriff, where he supervised all aspects of the department. He earned an undergraduate degree from North Georgia College and State University and a Masters of Public Administration degree from Columbus State University.
