FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — County election officials and volunteers — under the watchful eye of an army of Republican and Democratic Party monitors and the media — completed a required audit of the Nov. 3 presidential election Monday, two days prior to a state-imposed deadline, with little or no change in election night results
Election Director Mandi Smith said, “From what I’ve seen there were no discrepancies. We’re still working on paperwork and finalizing things now.”
Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger gave Georgia county elections offices until Wednesday (Nov. 18) at 11:59 p.m. to complete the statewide hand recount of 5,000,000 votes. The initial results had former Vice President Joe Biden winning the state by 14,000 votes over President Donald Trump.
In one of the reddest of red counties, 79.24 percent of Forsyth County’s 163,984 registered voters cast ballots in the presidential election. President Donald Trump outpolled Joe Biden 85,122 to 42,203.
Carolyn Hall Fisher, 1st Vice President of the Georgia Republican Party praised the Forsyth County audit. “Forsyth County should be training all 158 other counties,” she said. “It is the most well-oiled machine I have ever seen. They are amazing.”
Forsyth County Republican Party Chairman Patrick Bell said he was unaware of any major corrections. “We didn’t have any Floyd County problems,” he said. Raffensperger’s office confirmed Monday the audit discovered the Floyd County elections office failed to count 2,600 votes on election night.
