Missing water sample notice to residents

PRESS RELEASE

Forsyth County, Georgia – While collecting and testing water samples for Total Coliform bacteria in Oct. 2019, the Forsyth County Water & Sewer Department collected and tested 119 samples, one short of the required 120 monthly samples.

The results of the 119 samples, collected from representative locations throughout the County’s water distribution system, were negative.

A notice of the missed regulatory monitoring requirement has been mailed to all County water customers with their water bills. A link to the notice is also being included on e-bills and can be viewed and downloaded by clicking on Recent Posts on the Water and Sewer Department page on the Board of Commissioners website.

“Over 1,300 tests are conducted annually to ensure that drinking water is safe for our residents,” said Water and Sewer Department Director Tim Perkins. “However, during the compliance period of October 2019, we did not complete all monitoring or testing for Coliform bacteria and we need to let our customers know about this missed test.”

Customers can find a copy of the 2020 Water Quality Report by clicking here. This report outlines details on where Forsyth County water comes from, what it contains and how it compares to standards set by the regulatory agencies.

To help ensure future testing volume is correct, the County will be increasing the number of monthly samples collected from 120 to 125. Additionally, the number of staff reviewing the data to ensure accuracy will be increased.
