Missing man found dead in his car

PRESS RELEASE

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. – On Monday, Sept. 5, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Forsyth County Sheriff’s Detective A. Miller located a vehicle, a 2012 Honda Civic,  that had crashed into a wooded area off the shoulder of GA 400 southbound near the Lake Lanier Bridge.

Detective Miller had previously put out a lookout on a missing person, 25-year-old Daniel Edward Harp of Cumming. While investigating the missing person case using cellphone technology, she located the crashed vehicle driving by Mr. Harp, who was deceased at the scene.

Mr. Harp’s vehicle had traveled off the west shoulder of GA 400 and down an embankment into a wooded area. After striking several trees, the vehicle came to rest in the heavily wooded area. The case is under investigation by members of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Traffic Specialist Unit and the Major Crime Unit.
