Time running out for early voting in critical U.S. Senate runoff
News December 28, 2020
FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. – Georgia voters have only four more days to cast an early vote in the crucial U.S. Senate runoff. Advance voting ends Thursday (Dec. 31). Election Day is Jan. 5 when all precincts will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
As of last Wednesday when the Elections Office closed for the Christmas Holiday, 40,658 votes had been cast in Forsyth County, representing approximately 24 percent of the county’s 171,299 registered voters, far less than the 79 percent that turned out for the Nov. 3 Presidential Election, but not bad for a runoff election.
There are four polling places open for advance voting:
⦁ Forsyth County Elections office, 1201 Sawnee Dr.
⦁ Hampton Park Library, 5345 Settingdown Rd.
⦁ Sharon Springs Park, 1950 Sharon Rd.
⦁ Midway Park, 5100 Post Rd.
According to the Georgia Votes website, approximately two million people have cast early ballots in Georgia. The election will determine which political party will holds the majority in the Senate during the first two years of President Joe Biden’s administration.
To flip control, the Democrats must win both races. If Democrat Jon Ossoff defeats incumbent Sen. David Perdue and Rev. Raphael Warnock defeats Kelly Loeffler, the Senate will be split 50-50 and Vice President Kamala Harris would be cast a tie-breaking vote.

Energized Republicans rally for Perdue, Loeffler
News November 14, 2020
FORSTH COUNTY, Ga. – Hundreds of energized Republicans motivated by maintaining some restraint on what they see as the radical leftist agenda of a future Joe Biden administration elbowed their way into Black Diamond Grill Friday afternoon in support of Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler.
Perdue is battling John Ossoff and Loeffler is facing Raphael Warnock in a Jan. 5 runoff election that will determine which party will control the U.S. Senate. The Republicans must win at least one of the runoffs to maintain a 51-49 majority.
Florida Senator Rick Scott ignited the crowd by reminding them what is at stake should the Democrats win. “How do we win these elections,” Scott asked. It’s votes. The moment you can vote, go vote. The moment you can get your friend to go vote, make sure they go vote. We need to do everything we can to get our votes in as early as possible. We’ve got to do this all across the state. The Democrats believe this is their chance. If they win the Senate, think of all the bad stuff they can pass. They’re going to pack the Supreme Court, take away First Amendment rights and gun rights. Next they want to take away everybody’s private health care options. They want a Green New Deal. They want to defund police and they believe in socialism. If they win the senate, all their bad stuff will pass.”
Loeffler took the torch and fanned the flames, first thanking Congressman Doug Collins (R-Ga.), who she defeated in the Nov. 3 primary, for his endorsement then excoriating her Democrat opposition. ,
“I’m going to tell you exactly who my opponent is,” she said. “He has supported Marxist ideas. He embraces communists. He welcomed Fidel Castro, the communist dictator who kills people into his church. He believes Jeremiah Wright should be celebrated as a prophet.” Wright is the preacher who once declared “God damn America” to his congregation which included President Barrack Obama.
Perdue then reminded the crowd how Sen Chuck Shumer recently said, “First we’re going to take Georgia then we’re going to change America.”
“If you haven’t listened to Chuck Schumer, Chuck said he wants the majority,” he said. “They’ve got 48 votes now. They have to have her seat and my seat to get those votes, then with the vice president, they’ll get the tie-breaker. We’re not going to let that happen, are we?”
The rally came one day after 300 people attended the Forsyth County Republican Party meeting pledging to work to support both Loeffler and Perdue and two days after Florida Sen. Marco Rubio spoke in Cobb County in support of both Perdue and Loeffler.
It also came on the heels of an announcement that the National Republican Senatorial Committee has combined with their campaigns to raise $32 million.
Voter registration deadline is Dec. 7.
