FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. – A traffic stop early March 4 led to the arrest of two people after authorities say a large quantity of illegal drugs was discovered in their vehicle.
According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, members of the Lanier Regional Drug Task Force were on patrol shortly after midnight when they observed a Ford Escape fail to maintain its lane. Investigators conducted a traffic stop and began a DUI investigation after noticing signs that the driver may have been under the influence of drugs.
Authorities said K9 Eko was called to the scene and performed a free-air sniff around the vehicle, alerting deputies to the presence of narcotics.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, agents reported finding approximately one pound of methamphetamine, more than a pound of marijuana, several grams of fentanyl and heroin, multiple THC cartridges, various tablets, and a large amount of cash.
The driver, Riley Bryant, 27, and passenger Callie Gerrell, 28, were arrested and charged with multiple counts of trafficking and possession with intent to distribute, according to officials. Both were transported to the Dawson County Jail.
Officials said the two individuals were believed to be supplying significant quantities of drugs in Forsyth County.
The Lanier Regional Drug Task Force includes members of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, Johns Creek Police Department, and Milton Police Department.
