PRESS RELEASE – Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release praising Lanier Regional Drug Task Force (LRDTF) for their work and their execution on a recent investigation.
“Earlier in the month, the LRDTF began investigating a tip that Martin Ponce was selling narcotics in Forsyth County. I guess he doesn’t follow our social media or he would know that if you sell drugs in FOCO the Crime Fighting Machine will catch up with you…..and it did!
On July 9th, Mr. Ponce was observed performing a traffic violation and a traffic stop was conducted. It just so happens the deputy conducting a traffic stop was a LRDTF member and his K9 partner Eko. K9 Eko alerted on the vehicle. The traffic stop yielded approximately one pound and five ounces of methamphetamine and a firearm.
Based on observations made by the task force agents, a search warrant was obtained for Mr. Ponce’s residence. During the execution of the search warrant, an additional four ounces of meth were seized along with 9 ounces of marijuana, 3.5 grams of cocaine, packaging material, drug related objects, 20 firearms and a black Ram truck.
Mr. Ponce was charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, Possession of Drug Related Items, Window Tint Violation and Driving While License Suspended. He is now a resident of the Freeman Hotel and will be for quite some time.”
