BOC receives Humane Law Maker Award
News July 23, 2022
FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — The Board of Commissioners’ decision to amend the county’s Animal Ordinance to prohibit the sale of pets by pet stores or by roadside was welcome news to many pet owners and the Humane Society of the United States.
At the July 21 BOC meeting, the Humane Society awarded commissioners the Humane Law Maker Award for their leadership and support of animal welfare. Pet shops may still house adoptable animals in their shops with the information on adoption through proper organizations.
They also received canvases of art of the state dog of Georgia, “the adoptable dog”. The “adoptable dog” was passed as the official state dog by the 2016 Georgia General Assembly.
The Board of Commissioners is proud to have the support of the community and to continue serving the County through their individual and collective capacities.
