FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. – An unidentified man suffered burns over 50 percent of his body Tuesday when a still exploded at NoFo Brew Co. & Distillery in Cumming.

Forsyth County Fire Division Chief Jason Shivers said the man was a guest at the company and was with an employee at the time of the explosion. The employee used a dry chemical fire extension to extinguish flames from the man.

Forsyth County Fire Department responded to the incident and the man was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

Shivers said the explosion caused a “flash fire” that was out as soon as it started, causing damage to some equipment but not the building.

The fire is under investigation, but is not believed to be suspicious.

A post on the company’s website said the man was a guest and was there to learn about the distilling process. “Obviously, our team has been shaken by this incident and our hearts go out to our guest who was injured. Until we know further details, we ask for our community to keep our guest and all of our team members in your thoughts and prayers.”
