BOC approves $3.4 million to construct Parkstone Pump Station and Force Main

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. – The Board of Commissioners award a number of contracts during, Tuesday’s work session, the largest of which went to A1 Contracting for the construction of the Parkstone Pump Station and Force Main for the Department of Water and Sewer to A1 Contracting in the amount of $3.4 million;
In other business before the Board, commissioners:
- Approved the installation of a Lending Library Box at the Dog Park located on County Way;
- Awarded a contract for existing level of Medical Plan Stop Loss Insurance to Sun Life in the amount of $1.9 million;
- Authorized acceptance of a sponsorship from Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for a statue set for the Miracle League Field at Lanierland Park in the amount of $35,000.00;
- Approved an agreement with AT&T to relocate its lines, which are in conflict with the entrance to the new Fire Station in the amount of $2,750.40;
- Approved the purchase of mitigation credits for the Old Atlanta Road Widening Project, previously discussed September 17, 2020. Staff Recommendation: approval to purchase Credits from ACF River Basin in the amount of $207,775.90 and Chestatee Mitigation in the amount of $206,730.40;
- Approved a contract with Sports Lighting for sports lighting repairs and maintenance as needed in 2021 in the amount of $170,396.33;
- Approved a contract with Western Summit and Lanier Contracting to provide Indefinite Quantity Mechanical Contractor for the Department of Water in an amount not to exceed $50,000;
- Approved a Task Order with Atlas to design a sewer force main to be installed with the McGinnis Ferry Road Widening Project in an amount not to exceed a $39,868;
- Approved an Amendment to Task Order 2 with ESG Engineering, Inc. on the Antioch Water Treatment Plant Expansion to provide engineering assistance with the replacement of the Ozone System in the amount of $97,890.00;
- Approved a Task Order with Precision Planning, Inc. for engineering services to relocate water and sewer lines for the Georgia Department of Transportation S.R. 369 / Matt Highway Passing Lane Project in the amount of $155,900;
- Approved acceptance of Covid funds through the Area Agency on Aging, Legacy Link; there is no match. Families First Response Act – $28,035 to fund congregate meals and $55,393 to fund home delivered meals; Cares Act – $151,388 to fund home delivered meals, $60,585 to fund an outdoor fitness playground, $30,122 to fund a caregiver lending library and iPads for technology instruction;
- Approved the Sexton Hall Site Master Plan, the estimated project budget of $1.6 million, and authorization to engage Lose Design in the amount of $90,000 for the Construction Documents;
- Approved a Memorandum of Understanding with Georgia Department of Transportation for waterline relocation due to a road project of approximately 3.25 miles of passing lanes on SR 369 from the Cherokee County line to Wallace Tatum Road;
- Directed staff to draft an amendment to the Unified Development Code establishing a separation distance for car wash businesses;
- Approved a Utility Relocation Agreement with Georgia Transmission Corporation for the Old Atlanta Road Widening Project, Phases IV and V, in the amount of $1,345,434.92;
- Directed staff attorneys to draft changes to the Alcohol Sales Permit regarding extending the life of a permit from one to two years, reducing the waiting period of five years following a misdemeanor conviction and eliminating the restriction against an applicant who has a prior felony conviction.
